Southern Region Police spokesperson Beatrice Mikuwa said Jenningson was arrested on Wednesday shortly after the unauthorized landing at the country’s main international airport.Mwanamvekha Secures UAE Backing for Airport Upgrade, Mining Investment“The pilot landed the aircraft without following the required legal procedures and was subsequently arrested,” Mikuwa said.
In his ruling, Magistrate Paul Chiotcha ordered Jenningson to pay a K3 million fine or serve one year in prison.
Jenningson paid the fine, avoiding a custodial sentence.
Following payment of the fine, the aircraft was cleared to depart from Bakili Muluzi International Airport.
