Read our Privacy noticeMore than 3,100 cases of the drug-resistant, deadly fungus Candida auris have been reported across 27 states this year, according to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The nationwide total of 3,100-plus cases is nearly in line with the 3,348 cases reported during the same period last year. Because these symptoms can resemble other illnesses, laboratory testing is needed to confirm a Candida auris infection. At home, people with Candida auris generally do not need to isolate from family members but should continue practicing good hygiene, including regular handwashing.
