Read our Privacy noticeLindsay Clancy sobbed uncontrollably Thursday as jurors were shown autopsy photos of her youngest child, whom prosecutors say she strangled in 2023, prompting the court to take an unscheduled break.
Clancy’s defense argues she was experiencing postpartum psychosis, a rare and severe psychiatric condition that can cause a loss of connection with reality after childbirth.
When asked by prosecutors if Clancy brought up her children or cried about them, she said she had not.
But on cross-examination by Clancy's defense attorney, Bevins acknowledged the meeting was “awkward” and that Clancy's sister had said not to bring up the kids.
Like Clancy’s lawyers, Sanders’ defense argued she was mentally ill and shouldn’t be held criminally responsible, while prosecutors said she acted deliberately.
