NET Web DeskKohima, August 5: Heavy rainfall in Nagaland triggered a landslide along National Highway-29 near the old Kohima Municipal Council dumping site, completely blocking the busy Kohima-Dimapur Road and leaving hundreds of commuters stranded.
The landslide dumped large volumes of mud and debris across the highway, bringing traffic to a complete halt.
With no official assistance available, stranded commuters attempted to remove parts of the debris by hand in an effort to create a narrow passage for vehicles.
Commuters have urged authorities to deploy heavy machinery and personnel at the earliest to clear the highway and restore traffic.
The Kohima-Dimapur Road is one of Nagaland’s most critical transport corridors, connecting the state capital with its commercial hub.
