The Joint Action Rehabilitation Committee (JARC) and Joint Action Committee (JAC) announced the decision at a press conference in Agartala on Wednesday. The organisations said the blockade would be held at Sadhuchandra Para in Champaknagar along the national highway and at Bhugudas Para on the railway line. They claimed that several high-level meetings were subsequently held with the state government, but no concrete solution emerged. Following the lack of progress, JARC and JAC announced that they would begin an indefinite blockade from August 13. The organisations, however, maintained that the proposed blockade is aimed at pressing the government to fulfil their rehabilitation-related demands and provide a concrete solution to the issues raised by surrendered militants.
