Mizoram Seeks Greater Central Support For Tribal Development Programmes

NET Web DeskAizawl, August 6: Mizoram has urged the Centre to strengthen support for tribal development programmes, highlighting the state’s predominantly tribal population and the need for focused welfare initiatives.
According to an official statement issued on Thursday, Mizoram Minister of State Lalnghinglova Hmar, who oversees the Sports, Tourism, Labour, Employment and Skill Development, and Excise departments, met Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram in New Delhi on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed a range of development initiatives that could be implemented in Mizoram through the Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
Hmar noted that more than 90 per cent of Mizoram’s population belongs to Scheduled Tribes and stressed that the state deserves greater attention and support from the Ministry to accelerate its development efforts.
