Scam syndicates are impersonating Ministry of Finance (MOF) officers via phone to obtain personal and banking details from STR and Sara recipients. MOF Won’t Ask For Payment Or Personal DetailsThe Finance Ministry stated that it has never appointed any third party to run the official STR or Sara hotlines. MOF will never request payment or personal details by phone. Around the same time, a separate claim was circulating online – a viral poster promising every Malaysian aged 18 and above a one-off RM100 Sara payment, timed to National Day. The Finance Ministry confirmed that this is fake, too.
