York man fined four-figure sum after letting 'aggressive' Akita dog stray
[]
York Press | News
Luke Jamieson, 34, of Woodlea Avenue in Acomb, was ordered to pay £1,056 by York Magistrates on Wednesday (August 5) after failing to control or microchip his dog Kai.
The court heard how Jamieson allowed the dog to become stray and act aggressively, even after City of York Council issued formal notices and warnings to him.
On January 7, the dog had jumped from a van and was witnessed attacking another dog in the street.
Councillor Anna Perrett, executive member for community safety at City of York Council, said: "This person repeatedly ignored the law and his responsibilities as a dog owner, and so put others’ at risk.
