The end of the Gunflint Trail is the Chik-Wauk Museum, standing since 1934. A new exhibit highlighting Anishinaabe history is set to open soon at the Chik-Wauk Museum & Nature Center near the end of the Gunflint Trail. Campus Director Bonnie Schudy said that “history changes,” and she and the Gunflint Trail Historical Society want to keep things fresh. The Gunflint Trail Historical Society signed an agreement with the Forest Service in 2007 to create the museum where now, the front room is devoted to Anishinaabe history. “He pronounced all the Anishinaabe words for us,” Schudy said.
