ADVERTISEMENTWhen RPD reviewed companies and brands to use for automatic license plate reader cameras, ALPRs, department leaders chose Axon and steered away from Flock Safety.
“I’m happy we didn’t choose Flock,” Gronholz said.
“I’m not saying the other agencies did it the wrong way, but there are reasons we don’t own any Flock cameras.”
The city has two Axon ALPRs on poles on 41st Street Northwest and mobile Axon ALPR technology in nearly 60 different city cars.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation also reports no incidents so far of vandalism or thefts of traffic cameras in Southeast Minnesota.
