THUNDER BAY, Ontario — It looked like it was about to be a ninth straight defeat for the Rochester Honkers on Thursday night.
ADVERTISEMENTThe Northfield grad tied the game with a grand slam, and shortly afterwards, Mike Maanum delivered the go-ahead single as the Honkers snapped an eight-game losing streak, as a six-run ninth led to a 7-6 win over the Thunder Bay Border Cats in front of over 3,000 people in Thunder Bay.
The Honkers improve to 14-20 in the second half and 33-35 overall, while the Border Cats fall to 10-22, 26-40.
Rochester trailed 6-0 entering the fifth after a three-run bottom of the fourth from Thunder Bay.
