There is reportedly strong support among some within the company for Aldis to receive a meaningful run as an active competitor. Following his hard fought showdown with Gunther at SummerSlam, WWE announced that Aldis had been reinstated as SmackDown General Manager. The SummerSlam contest marked Aldis' first match in nearly three years, with his previous bout taking place at an independent wrestling event on October 7, 2023.
