The blaze broke out near runway 27L today (August 6) at 5.37am, disrupting operations at the UK’s busiest airport. A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "The London Fire Brigade was called to reports of a fire on an area of grass near a runway at Heathrow Airport. A Heathrow spokesperson described the incident as a "small grass fire," which was quickly extinguished. In an updated statement, Heathrow Airport said it expected to reopen runway 27L by 6.45pm. We'll be departing on the southern runway 27L and arriving on runway 27R.
