The first mural in a series of six large-scale artworks has been unveiled in Preston city centre, transforming the former BHS building on Fishergate into a tribute to Lancashire’s cultural heritage.
The project, funded by Preston City Council and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, aims to turn vacant walls into vibrant public art celebrating themes of Lancashire and connectivity.
Cllr Hindle, cabinet member for culture and arts at Preston City Council, said: "These murals are a fantastic addition to Preston city centre, celebrating our Lancashire heritage while creating wonderful bright, artistic spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy.
"By providing a vibrant looking city centre, we hope to attract visitors and new businesses and make steps to reduce anti-social behaviour."
Created by Preston-based artists Dave Robinson and Shawn Sharpe, the murals will form a city centre art trail stretching across Fishergate, Friargate, Lune Street, Lancaster Road, and The Flag Market.
