This year, Japanese watchmaker Seiko celebrates its 145th anniversary, and the brand is commemorating its beginnings as a Tokyo clock and watch repair shop in 1881 with a series of purple watches. The “Edo Murasaki” (or “Edo Purple”) color is a traditional Japanese hue that is a symbol of hope for the future, as well as drawing on the elegance and refined beauty of Tokyo's Edo period. For the occasion, the watchmaker has reimagined six of its most famous models with purple touches, or in some cases overhauls.
