Numatic International, the Chard-based manufacturer, is currently consulting with staff about potential redundancies. A separate consultation is underway regarding its final salary pension scheme, though the company says fewer than seven per cent of its 1,200 employees are affected by this change. A spokesperson for Numatic International said: "We are currently consulting with a number of employees across two areas of the business regarding potential redundancies. "All affected employees have been offered alternative roles within Numatic, and supporting colleagues through any transition remains our priority. "Maybe it’s a sign of the times, but like any business they want to run it as efficiently as possible."
