Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi has directed authorities to prioritize underserved areas while issuing bus route permits as part of efforts to improve the city’s public transport system. Naqvi issued the directive while chairing a meeting of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Board to review public transport services, traffic management, and commuter facilities across Karachi. The commissioner instructed the RTA to align bus route permits with commuters’ transportation needs, with special focus on suburban areas that lack adequate public transport. He also directed authorities to discourage unnecessarily long-distance bus routes within the city to improve operational efficiency.
