Pakistan’s rapid expansion in distributed solar generation is driving higher demand for battery energy storage systems, with industry estimates showing imports of battery storage systems increased by 220 percent in 2025. Trina Solar says Pakistan’s growing solar base is increasing interest in combining solar generation with battery storage, particularly for utility-scale projects as well as commercial and industrial microgrids. According to Renewables First, the country imported approximately 4.6 GWh of battery energy storage systems in 2025, more than tripling imports recorded a year earlier. Energy experts note that battery storage can complement existing solar installations by allowing excess electricity generated during the day to be used later. The company expects its cumulative battery storage shipments to exceed 30 GWh in the first half of 2026 and recently introduced its 6.25MWh Elementa 3 storage platform for large-scale energy storage projects.
