Mark Leiter Jr. is not on the Yankees' roster for the American League Division Series against the Blue Jays, making space for Game 1 starter Luis Gil. One pitcher needed to be taken off the Yankees’ roster in order to make space for Luis Gil, who is starting Game 1 of the ALDS against the Blue Jays on Saturday evening. Gil was left off the team’s Wild Card Series roster this past week against the Red Sox because he pitched in Game 162 and would’ve been on short rest. Leiter’s numbers against the Blue Jays could’ve tipped the scales here, too. The right-hander posted a 9.64 ERA in six games against the Blue Jays this year.
