The City of Cambridge is trying to ensure that everyone can easily cast a ballot in this October’s municipal election by highlighting enhanced accessible options for voters. The city says one voting location in each ward will be equipped with an Accessible Ballot Marking Device that includes touchscreen controls, paddle switches, sip-and-puff technology, and other assistive features. All voting locations in the city will also have barrier-free entrances, accessible parking spaces, and wheelchair accessible voting areas. In addition to online and curbside voting options, Cambridge is developing an at-home voting program for those who can’t leave their residence due to disability, medical reasons, or extenuating circumstances. Election staff will be available at each voting location for those who need assistance.
