Aug. 4, 2026 — Abbott has completed enrollment in its TECTONIC coronary artery disease (CAD) Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) IDE study, a pivotal trial which is evaluating the safety and effectiveness of the SonicForce Coronary IVL System* in patients with severely calcified, de novo coronary lesions prior to stent placement. The TECTONIC CAD IVL trial enrolled 335 patients across 40 U.S. clinical sites, with first pivotal trial data expected to be presented at TCT later this year. “Completion of enrollment in the TECTONIC CAD IVL trial marks an important milestone as we evaluate the potential of the investigational SonicForce Coronary IVL System. SonicForce Coronary IVL SystemThe SonicForce Coronary IVL System is designed to use acoustic pressure waves — or high-energy sound waves — to break hard calcium blockages in severely calcified coronary arteries to prepare the vessel for the stent placement. Outside the U.S., the device is subject to local regulatory requirements and is not commercially available.
