A US Senate committee has voted to hold Anthony Fauci in contempt of Congress after the former top US infectious disease official refused to answer questions about his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Anthony Fauci, former Chief Medical Advisor and face of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the US, has been held in contempt by a Senate Committee. Paul said Fauci had no valid fifth amendment claim because the pardon nullified it and because Fauci waived any remaining protection by testifying. Fauci invoked the fifth amendment, the right to remain silent, during a US Senate hearing over his handling of the pandemic. Fauci also faces state-level scrutiny, with West Virginia joining Louisiana, Florida and Alabama in investigating his pandemic conduct.
