Hyderabad:BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao on Thursday ridiculed Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s reported claim of taking credit for the registration of FIRs by the city cybercrime police against Meta India head Arun Srinivas and social media account operators for circulating morphed content targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a statement, Rao termed the CM’s claim misleading and hypocritical, saying it exposed double standards. He said that the FIRs were not registered on any initiative by the Congress dispensation but after Telangana BJP members submitted complaints. Based on these BJP complaints, the cybercrime Police registered two cases under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act, Rao said, adding that the CM has no moral right to claim credit for the action. The state BJP chief said the arbitrary removal and repeated transfer of officials are damaging the morale and independence of Telangana’s administration, and sought an explanation from the government on the timing of the DCP’s shifting in the wake of the high-profile cases.
