Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday declined to grant an interim stay on the counselling process for admissions to MBBS and BDS courses conducted by Dr NTR University of Health Sciences. Counsel for the petitioner, K. Madhavi, argued that the Health Department's decision to permit web options in every phase of counselling could deprive meritorious students from reserved categories of seats in the open category. The Bench observed that no affected student had approached the court seeking relief and directed the university to explain the changes made to the earlier counselling procedure. Sridevi submitted that restricting web options to a single phase adversely affected meritorious students. After hearing both sides, the Bench adjourned the matter for further hearing.
