South West Water wants to change permits to allow its usePublic can have their say until September, 22, 2026The Environment Agency has launched a seven-week consultation on proposals to vary environmental permits for a new long sea outfall serving Exmouth sewage treatment works.
South West Water has applied to change its permits to allow permanent use of the outfall, located around 300 metres south of Straight Point.
The Environment Agency said the outfall had been granted conditional temporary permission to operate because it reduces the risk of pollution affecting Exmouth Beach bathing water and the Exe Estuary.
However, South West Water must secure changes to its environmental permits before it can be used permanently.
The Environment Agency said comments received would normally be placed on the public register, including the respondent's name but not their personal contact details.
