A man has been charged with murder nearly two years after a 20-year-old Orinda resident died from a fatal fentanyl overdose, according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office.
The death occurred in September 2024 and was later determined to have been caused by acute fentanyl and para-fluorofentanyl intoxication.
During the investigation, detectives traced the drugs to the person who allegedly sold them to the victim.
He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility on a murder charge.
Prosecutors with the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office have formally charged Batsukh with murder, alleging he sold narcotics laced with fentanyl that led to the victim’s death.
