A battle over working conditions in extreme heat boiled outside Baltimore City Hall as the heat index hit 116 degrees Thursday morning. City security officers went public with their complaints about unsafe conditions while working for security contractor Metropolitan Protective Services. The company says about 175 of its officers work in Baltimore across several city agencies, including at numerous outdoor sites like city pools and communities like Latrobe Homes. Some officers said they have been forced to work during this summer’s extreme heat with no water and no breaks.
