The Canton Fire Department says it has contained a gas line rupture near the intersection of Spring Lane and Chapman Street and residents who were evacuated have been cleared to return to their homes. The 2-inch gas line rupture was reported shortly after 9 a.m. Homes along Spring Street were evacuated and crews from Eversource met fire crews at the scene. WATCH HERE WATCH HEREUtility crews shut off gas to the area and residents were allowed to return home. Gas line repairs are ongoing but there is no danger to residents. Chapman Street has reopened, but traffic on Spring Street will be restricted until repairs are complete.
