Plans have been submitted for a new apartment block to be built on the site of a former Hucknall pub. Developer Saific Terra Ltd has put forward proposals to Ashfield District Council to build more than a dozen new apartments on the site of the former Chequers Inn pub in the town’s High Street. The Chequers, which dates back to 1832 as a pub, closed in 2020 and the ‘derelict’ spot was then later refurbished and converted into four house in multiple occupation [HMO] units and apartments. But the pub’s former car park still remains undeveloped and is currently used for parking and Saific Terra wants to use the space to build a new three-storey block containing 16 apartments. The layout of the block would include six apartments on the ground and first floor, with four flats being built on the second.
