Rushcliffe Borough Council has confirmed that a replacement for the willow tunnel removed from Bridgford Park will be installed this autumn. The tunnel was originally planted and maintained by the Friends group, but the council said the willow had died following another prolonged dry summer. This is the second willow tunnel in Bridgford Park to fail after the living willow died. Rushcliffe Borough Council said the decision to remove the tunnel was made solely on safety grounds and confirmed that it would work with the Friends of Bridgford Park and other stakeholders on a replacement. “We know how much park goers loved the willow tunnel which is why we will be working with the Friends of Bridgford Park on a suitable replacement in the autumn.”
