The world in which our grandparents raised children no longer exists, and there is little point pretending otherwise. One day, perhaps decades from now, someone at a family gathering will begin with the familiar words, “Do you remember when…?” But stories that become family history, and memories that children carry long after childhood has passed. Every family tree has many branches, but grandparents are the roots that remember where the tree began. Perhaps that is why every family, not just in India but anywhere in the world, still needs grandparents.
