Every August, National Dog Month gives us a reason to celebrate the beloved canine pets who share our homes and enrich our lives in so many ways. Some were living with a family forced to move into an apartment where dogs aren’t allowed; others became homeless after the death of their owner. Adopting a dog also opens up shelter space for the next dog in need. National Dog Month is a nice reminder to celebrate our pets, but the opportunity to help dogs in need is in front of us year-round. If you’ve been considering adopting, National Dog month is a great time to make a visit to one of our local shelters.
