A proposed Massachusetts bill is sparking controversy because it would create a permanent, taxpayer-funded commission to solely promote and support Muslims. The controversial Massachusetts measure, Senate Bill S.2134 and House Bill H.3351, is entitled, “An Act promoting the civil rights and inclusion of American Muslims in the commonwealth.” The proposed legislation aims to establish a state-funded commission focused on Muslim Americans. Its goals include promoting Muslim participation in public life “to combat Islamophobia.” He argues the bill violates the U.S. Constitution and Article III of the Massachusetts Constitution, as well.
