The fresh start effect is going to sound intuitive, I hope, when I mention the first instance of it, which is New Year's.
And you can do it at any time of the day; any time can be a fresh start for you.
In our research, we've shown we can increase goal pursuit by drawing attention to the opportunity to create a fresh start.
So fresh start dates—they could check that box, or in another condition, they could start saving in two or three months.
So there is an ability to create a fresh start simply by drawing people's attention to a different moment that they might have otherwise not noticed that they associate with a fresh start.
