The event aims to provide free screenings to families who might otherwise struggle to afford orthodontic care. Organizers say the program helps give children more confidence through their smiles. Dr. Jay Lawless spoke about his goal for the children who enter the program. To qualify for the Smiles Change Lives program, a child must be seven to 18 years old, have good oral hygiene, have no unfilled cavities and have a moderate to severe need for braces.
