Mr. Steven E. Riney, 68, of Peoria, Illinois, formerly of Abingdon, Illinois, passed away at 10:10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the Loft Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in East Peoria, Illinois. He married Shelley Onion on June 16, 1979, in Abingdon, Illinois. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Shelley Riney of Peoria; three sons, Jeremy Riney of Canones, New Mexico, Justin Riney of Fort Mill, South Carolina, and Jared Riney of Galesburg; one daughter, Stephanie Riney of Peoria; his father, Doyle Riney of Abingdon; one brother, Gary (Laurie) Riney of Abingdon; one sister, Kathy (Eric) Mueller of Decatur, Illinois; and two granddaughters, Reagan and Ryan Riney. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Riney, and a daughter-in-law, Jamie Riney. He continued his education at Illinois State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in 1979, and later received a master’s degree in business from Bradley University in 1986.
