The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is set to begin a phased reopening of cattle imports from Mexico as the fight against the New World Screwworm rages on. Thus far, a total of 44 cases of New World screwworm detections have been recorded since June 3, 2026, according to the USDA New World screwworm dashboard. Currently, there are only seven active New World screwworm cases in the United States, according to the USDA.
