A 75-year-old man returned to Northern Ireland following extradition from Australia has been remanded in custody as he faces allegations of historic sexual offending against two family members in Belfast. The man appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court charged with indecent assault on a female and gross indecency with a child. The accused was first arrested in Victoria in 2023 and was brought back to Northern Ireland on Wednesday after extradition proceedings. He is wanted to stand trial on 17 charges in total, comprising 14 allegations of indecent assault and three counts of gross indecency with a child. District Judge Anne Marshall remanded the man in custody until 20 August, when a date is to be set for a preliminary enquiry.
