The Karachi administration has decided to revise the city’s bus route policy, with authorities directed to prioritize underserved areas when issuing new route permits to improve public transport services. During the meeting, the commissioner instructed the RTA to align bus route permits with the transportation needs of commuters, particularly in suburban areas where public transport services remain limited. He also directed authorities to discourage unnecessarily long-distance bus routes within Karachi to improve operational efficiency and ensure better coverage across the city. Officials informed the meeting that the computerization of traffic signals is currently underway at five major intersections across Karachi. The latest measures are part of the city’s broader efforts to improve traffic flow, enhance public transport accessibility, and modernize Karachi’s urban transport infrastructure.
