It won't be a total eclipse anywhere in the UK, so the sky won't go fully dark, but it will be noticeably dimmer. Because this is an early-evening eclipse with the Sun low in the sky, a clear view towards the west and north west is essential, so open, elevated spots away from buildings or trees will give the best chance of tracking it. Cloud cover remains the main uncertainty this far out, though average August cloud cover for similar North West locations sits around 76-81 per cent.
