Germany has published a list of 70 shortage occupations across key sectors, aiding foreign professionals in finding employment under the Skilled Immigration Act. The 70 roles are grouped into six broad categories: managers, science and engineering professionals, health professionals, teaching professionals, and information and communications technology (ICT) professionals. What the 70 roles coverThe science and engineering segment is the largest on the list, featuring 24 occupations. These include civil engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, chemical engineers, and environmental engineers, alongside roles such as building architects, landscape architects, cartographers, and graphic and multimedia designers. Health professionals account for 13 positions, covering generalist and specialist medical practitioners, nursing professionals, midwifery professionals, dentists, pharmacists, physiotherapists, audiologists, speech therapists, and optometrists, among others.
