Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez survived Tuesday’s primary, but the results exposed just how politically vulnerable the Southwest Washington Democrat has become. Rather than coasting through the primary as an incumbent, Gluesenkamp Perez heads into the general election after a sizable share of Democratic voters chose someone else. Republicans consolidated behind Braun while Gluesenkamp Perez struggled to unite her own party. Gluesenkamp Perez did not respond to the newspaper’s request for comment, and KVI has not independently verified those allegations. Also absent from the featured endorsements is the Blue Dog Coalition, despite Gluesenkamp Perez serving as one of the centrist caucus’s co-chairs.
