Firefighters made significant strides Thursday on a pair of North Coast blazes as containment lines continue to hold strong. The Press Democrat reports in Mendocino County, the 872-acre Feliz Fire west of Hopland is now 85% contained, with out-of-area crews heading home as firefighters tackle remaining hot spots. Meanwhile, Sonoma County’s Woodside Fire along Highway 1 near Salt Point State Park reached 90% containment after burning 152 acres and damaging or destroying seven structures. Cal Fire and Caltrans crews are currently clearing hazard trees along Highway 1 before both incidents transition to patrol status in the coming days. While evacuation orders for both fires have been lifted and roads reopened, the causes of both blazes remain under investigation.
