Murcia’s regional government is completing work to transform the former San Javier civil airport into a centre for aerospace and satellite technology businesses. It will support companies using space technology, satellite services and data to develop products for other industries. Specialist training and business acceleration programmes will also be offered. San Javier’s civil airport operated for almost 50 years before closing following the opening of Corvera Airport. Mayor José Miguel Luengo said the aerospace centre would help the municipality maintain its strong connection with aviation while creating new economic opportunities.
