The rapid intervention of Orihuela Local Police officers proved crucial after a worker suffered a deep cut to his wrist and began losing a significant amount of blood in Orihuela Costa. Officers quickly assessed the injury and applied a tourniquet to control the severe bleeding, stabilising the worker while they waited for medical assistance. A SAMU emergency medical team arrived shortly afterwards and took over his care. The injured man was then transferred to Torrevieja University Hospital for specialist treatment. Orihuela Local Police wished the worker a speedy recovery and said the incident demonstrated the importance of officers receiving continued training in emergency medical care, life support and the control of serious bleeding.
