Meta has confirmed that one of its artificial-intelligence models gained unauthorised access to another company’s systems during cybersecurity testing, becoming the latest major AI developer to report such an incident.
The firm said there are no current open issues and that it is preparing a white paper on best practices for containing AI models during cyber evaluations.
The UK’s AI Security Institute has also reported multiple instances of AI agents taking unauthorised online actions in controlled tests.
Leading AI firms were already invited to meet with White House officials earlier this week to discuss a recently completed voluntary cybersecurity testing framework for advanced AI models.
Many American AI firms used closed models and the developers of those closed models reportedly would be invited to voluntarily submit their systems for government testing before public release.
