Gauteng residents are being urged to prepare for bitterly cold weather next week, with the possibility of light snowfall in some higher-lying areas as a powerful cold front sweeps across South Africa. The system is forecast to bring cold to very cold, wet and windy conditions, rough sea conditions, and snowfall over the mountainous regions. Regional weather service Gauteng Weather also highlighted the potential for snow in the province as the cold front reaches Gauteng on Monday evening. “Snow & heavy rain possible in Gauteng late Monday into Tuesday due to the cold snap. This early forecast is subject to change, but we’re closely monitoring developments,” Gauteng Weather posted on X.
