The City of Lavonia will hold public hearings later this month on its plan to raise property taxes.
This week, the City released a statement announcing it has tentatively adopted a 2026 millage rate that will require an increase in property taxes by 0.33%.
The tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 8.107 mills, an increase of 0.027 mills, the same as in 2025.
Without the tentative increase, the millage rate will be no more than 8.080 mills.
By law, three public hearings must be held before the City Council can vote to authorize the new millage rate.
