The response follows calls from the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) for an audit of BECE scripts, citing concerns that some results do not accurately reflect candidates' performance. WAEC maintained that its marking system is designed to ensure fairness and does not permit the release of examination scripts to schools or associations for independent assessment. Mr Kapi explained that any approved request would be handled by WAEC's Chief Examiner and not by external bodies. "It is not the case that we can give out the script to the schools to mark them... If they come properly, it is something that you may allow for remarking, but not an audit where they would scrutinise the scripts themselves," he said.
