Jumelle, 22, also shouted threats towards shopkeeper Bharath Ponnuru and stole a quantity of alcohol from him during the incident on April 9. Jumelle then robbed the Looks General Store on Summerfield Road and made off with a quantity of alcohol seven days later. He stole alcohol from the Asda supermarket on Spott Road, assaulted a man at the store and breached court bail conditions, all on April 16. He was later identified as the culprit in all the offences and, after being arrested and charged, he appeared from custody at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last month, where he pleaded guilty. Jumelle, c/o HMP Edinburgh, was remanded in custody pending reports being prepared and was back in the dock last week for sentencing.
